Girardi’s Inept Managing is Contagious!

As many of my readers know, a few years ago I kept begging Joe Girardi to let his team’s leading hitter play.

This was Ichiro Suzuki, who led the Yankees in batting but could not see the field because his manager (Clueless Joey G) thought that other guys were better.

Why should a .300+ batter get to play? Nope, he should ride the bench

As usual, Joe was wrong.   It’s not surprising that Joey was wrong.   What IS surprising is that Joey’s logic (bench your best hitter) is contagious.

Ichiro is now on the Miami Marlins, where he is again his team’s leading hitter at .317.   But his manager (Dom Mattingly) doesn’t let him play.   Imagine leading your team in hitting, and your reward is to ride the bench.  Amazingly disrespectful managing.   Mattingly should no better, since he often led the Yanks in hitting and was never benched.
